Asked Questions
-
The name change to MedALERT
PC.com from Onclick.Software
was due to a error in registering the Onclick.Software domain name. Unfortunately
we did not have access to the web hosts domain name renewal link, to
update the domain. We lost the domain to another, so we had to
quickly think of a new name and after looking at the core product, we
thought truly that we already had the best domain name in the product
itself. That is why the name change to MedALERT
PC.com.

No! You do not
have to purchase a thing if you do not want to. The older software,
the software that has a Version Number instead of the Release
Number is still free to use without purchasing. All newer
software that has a Release Number will have a DEMO
mode in which you may test it out, but to use it fully you will have to
purchase a license from MedALERT
PC.com.
-
All printing issues
has been resolved by going with a new compiler called REALbasic.
The older compiler used, Rapid-Q
had allot of issues when trying to print out any card for the MedALERT
PC series of applications within the
Version Series (Version 1.0.0 to Version 1.4.0). As of 02-23-2004,
the following are known Printers
that have issues when trying to Print-Out a MedALERT
PC Version 1.0.0 to 1.4.0 Patient Cards.
|
- The
following Printers have been reported to MedALERT
PC.com
as having issues when trying to
print-out a MedALERT
PC (Versions 1.0.0 to 1.4.0 only as the Release applications are
fine) Patient Cards.
NOTE:
There maybe some printers listed that may work as it is
depending upon the Operating System you are using. It has
been found that the Software Compiler that MedALERT
PC.com
uses, utilizes a 16-bit printing code
process in which when the program prints out, it uses a 16-bit
printing code (uses on older operating systems such as Windows
3.11 and 95).

Question:
"I have MedALERT PC 2006 Release 1, can I still use the Software
Registration Process?" Answer:
"Unfortunately No! The MedALERT
PC 2006 Release 2 has been updated to allow full Software
Registration Process once again as the code had to be changed to reflect the
new email and url. You will need to download the New Release 2."
-
Question:
I have MedALERT PC 2006 Release 2 now, is there anything really different
from Release 1 to Release 2?" Answer:
"No not really as the MedALERT
PC 2006 Release 2 has been updated to allow full Software
Registration Process once again as the code had to be changed to reflect the
new email and url. The main program itself is still the same, although
a Newer version of the MedALERT PC 2006 (MedALERT PC 2007) is coming out
soon."
-
Question:
"I have MedALERT PC Version 1.4.0 (Or earlier), can I transfer all the
data from that to the new MedALERT PC 2006?" Answer:
"Unfortunately No! The MedALERT PC 2006
program is created with a totally NEW compiler (REALBasic)
which uses the RealSQLDatabase. The older
programs such as MedALERT PC Version 1.4.0 and
earlier are NOT compatible with the NEW RealSQLDatabase."
-
Question:
"When I tried to
print out the using the MedALERT Patient Card
using the NEW MedALERT PC 2006 program,
it was not the size of a Credit Card, in fact the print out was
Doubled in size. I tried all three print options and they too printed
out Double in size. What am I doing wrong?" Answer:
You are doing nothing wrong, but your Printer's
Resolution is set below the normal 72 DPI. The MedALERT
PC 2006 program uses the normal Printer Resolution of 72 DPI (Dot
Per Inch). If your Printer is printing out either larger or smaller
then normal, you can resolve this by going to the File
Menu, then clicking on the Printer
Setup. Simply just click on the 'OK'
button and then the printer will print out based upon the normal 72
DPI."
-
Question:
"What if I do not have a Middle Name or what if I
do not know the Patient's Middle Name I am creating this for, how then
do I SAVE the file?" Answer:
"Some
people do not have a Middle Name
or if someone is entering this for you, they may not know your Middle
Name. If this is the case with you or the patient you are trying to
enter, you can simply type in a question mark "?" (without
the quote marks). This will indicate that the Middle
Name is unknown and will leave a black space once you SAVE
the patient file.
NOTE:
The Middle Name
can be entered in later once known and to save it just UPDATE
the file."
-
Question:
"How
do I enter a Postal Code Number that is Canadian, using the USA/Canada
Default settings ?" Answer:
"Canadian
Postal Code Numbers are the only thing that is not similar based upon the
USA Default settings. To enter Canadian Postal Code Numbers,
simply go to the FILE Menu then click on the Configuration. Now, under
the Postal Code Configuration select the International
Configuration, but DO
NOT click on SAVE
but just click on CANCEL.
This will allow you to enter in information without having the USA
Default Input Mask. When you have entered your
information then UPDATE
the file. TIP:
This can be done in either direction as it will temporally disable that Configuration
function. When you close or exit out of the MedALERT
PC 2006 program, all the SAVED
settings will still be there once you open the program again."
-
Question:
"I
need to enter a Phone Number that is not USA/Canada Default for my
Contact?" Answer:
"You
can enter in NON-Masked Phone Number by simply going to the FILE Menu then
click on the Configuration. Now, under the Phone
Configuration select the International
Configuration, but DO
NOT click on SAVE
but just click on CANCEL.
This will allow you to enter in information without having the USA
Default Input Mask. When you have entered your
information then UPDATE
the file. TIP:
This can be done in either direction as it will temporally disable that Configuration
function. When you close or exit out of the MedALERT
PC 2006 program, all the SAVED
settings will still be there once you open the program again."
-
Question:
What does the Date Configuration really do?"
Answer:
"The Date Configuration
is primarily used for the Date Information Tags used within the Patient
Info and the Contact Info pages.
This just allows the user to know how the Date is to be entered, as many
countries use different Date Format styles."
-
Question:
"When I print
out a Medical Alert Patient Report, the text is cut off on the left side of
the page. How do I fix this?"
Answer:
"If you are using a Windows based system, one needs
to go to the Printer Setup under the FILE menu option. Now 'click' on
the [OK] as this will load the Windows Page Setup commands. This will
need to be done each time you run the MedALERT PC 2006 application when
printing is required. If you are just updating information without
printing out a report, then you will not need to do this."
-
Question:
"Can I get
more information on a Medical Alert Patient Report print out, on a single
page?" Answer:
"Yes! If you are using a Windows based
system, one needs to go to the Printer Setup under the FILE menu option.
Set the Top Margin to 0.5 and the Bottom Margin to 0.25, then 'click' on the
[OK] as this will set and load the Windows Page Setup commands.
This will increase the Page Length allowing more to be printed on to one
page."

Question:
"I have a registered
version which is 1.2.0 and my question is, can your new version write over
this previous one or is better to uninstall first and then install the
update? This is a great program!!!" Answer:
"To answer you question, Yes you can just simply install the MedALERT
PC Version 1.4.0 in the same directory or folder as the older versions.
This will allow you to use the older database from the older versions of the
MedALERT PC software application (Versions 1.0.0 - 1.3.0.). NOTE:
You can ONLY! save in the new format and not in the older format within
MedALERT PC Version 1.4.0., but you can read any version of the older
MedALERT PC database's. Sweet deal so one doesn't have to
re-enter all the data again, great if you have multiple family members
entered into the database."
-
Question:
"It's impossible for me to download MedALERT PC latest version, because
I always get an error on your server. Please, can you fix this or send
me the software?" Answer:
"The server in which the Onclick.Software
website resides on has given some people troubles while downloading.
There is a second link on the MedALERT PC Download page which is a direct
link to the zip file on the server. http://www.freewebs.com/onclicksoftware/downloads/MedALERTpc140.zip
This should resolve your
issue in downloading the MedALERT PC Version 1.4.0."
NOTE: Go to the MedALERTpc1_DL
web page and select the second or alternate download link (the one on
the bottom of the page)."
-
Question:
"Trying to print the MedALERT PC Version 1.4.0 Card with a HP PSC-2110
all in one, it gives me a terrible small card. There is no way, to
change printer-settings. Please help me!" Answer:
"The software programming language that we used to create this
application, will run on Windows platforms like Win98, WinNT, WinXP and
Win2000. Onclick.Software currently uses a HP 550C Inkjet color
printer and a HP LaserJet 4L Laser printer that gives us no troubles.
But recently we have found out that most if not all issues dealing with
printing are due to NEWER Printers on the market, specifically USB Printers.
The reason why we say this is we have a NEW HP DeskJet 6220, USB port
printer and it gives us the same results as yours does. So, after all
this time we found that the NEW printers, using USB Porting is causing
the problems for most. For now unfortunately, the ONLY answer to the
printing issues is to use an older printer or a less advanced printer.
Parallel Port Printers so far have no problems in printing as the program
coding within the MedALERT PC software application is based on 'Parallel
Port Code' to print out the MedALERT PC Cards. The newer USB Port
Printers seem to have the most troubles when trying to print out cards as
it's 'Printing Code' is not that of the 'Parallel Port Code' which is giving
the strange and weird print out some are getting. Please let us know
what you will do, as we would like to keep abreast on issues like this.
Please contact us if you have any thoughts or comments on possible solutions
as we are eager learn from you as well."

Question:
"When I opened the MedALERT PC Version 1.4.0 application, it was larger
then my screen (800x600). The older versions (1.0.0 - 1.3.0) had no problems
with this. What can I do to make it so I can see the whole
screen again?" Answer:
"When the addition of the Physicians/Hospital section and StatusBar was
added to the MedALERT PC application, it increased the size of the Height of
the window causing it to now be larger then the 800x600 screen limits.
A simple fix can be if one Hides the TaskBar (NOTE: This is the Bar that has
the START button in Windows), this will increase the window size allowing
one to view the whole screen at one time. There maybe a fix for users
of 800x600 screens to allow them to view the entire screen without troubles.
NOTE: To those that use 800x600 screens and would like to have a version
that would correct this, please email Onclick.Software
stating that you
would like a copy created for 800x600 screens. If enough users write
in, a copy will be created."

Question:
"Where do I get the
Plastic Laminate to seal my MedALERT PC Card? Can I get it at K-Mart
or Wal-Mart as it would be cheaper then going to a Office Print Shop?" Answer:
"Yes you can
get a Plastic Laminate protective sheet at Wal-Mart. It is called '3M
ID Card Protectors - Permanent, Self-Lamination without Heat or Machines!' Wal-Mart
Code Number:2120051479 priced at $3.97 for 10 two-sided sheets.
How to
plastic laminate your MedALERT PC Card using the 3M ID Card Protectors.
-
Place the
MedALERT PC Card face down on the clear plastic sheet.
-
Bend the
top sheet slightly to separate the white backing. Roll
evenly across the MedALERT PC Card back.
-
Now,
gently seal the MedALERT PC Card edges together.
Caution:
Once the MedALERT PC Card is laminated, it can not be removed from the
laminating sheets without damaging or destroying the MedALERT PC Card
inside. NOTE: There
are enough plastic laminate sheets to do 10 MedALERT PC Cards within the 3M
ID Card Protectors kit."

Question:
"When trying to SAVE a Patients file, the Blood Type does not seem to
be saved. But after further testing, I found that it does save it but
will not bring it back to the Main screen, what is the problem?" Answer:
"The problem stems from that fact that the Blood Type is set to a Read
Only format, with this any 'entry functions will not function properly.
To correct this, the Read Only format must be disabled to allow the entry
field to work properly. NOTE: Because of this issue, the
MedALERT PC software application has been updated from Version 1.1.0 to that
of Version 1.2.0. This will reflect the current fixes as
described above."
-
Question:
"Can you implement a language.ini file to substitute titles in
different languages?" Answer:
"Thank you for your idea and in reviewing, we think it is a great
feature to add to the MedALERT PC software application. Although an
upgrade has been created to replace the current version of the MedALERT PC
software application as the MedALERT PC (Patient Card) Version 1.2.0 is
already set for public market. We will keep your idea on file for the
next upgrade."
-
Question:
"As I am in Australia, the program will not allow me to enter the
correct area code ie...(08), it asks for 3 digits.....Any
recommendation?" Answer:
"Unfortunately No, although as this is a vital part of the MedALERT PC
Card function, there will be an upgraded version to reflect this change
soon. NOTE: Because of this issue, the MedALERT PC software
application has been updated from Version 1.0.0 to that of Version 1.1.0.
This will reflect the current fixes as described above."
-
Question:
"Your registration panel asks for: Product Serial Number, Registration
Name and a Registration code. Ok, Where am I to get this information
so that I can register? (I would normally assume that it would be sent
back as a result of the registration process)." Answer:
"Yes, all of this
information is within the Help file. It is also on the Onclick.Software
web site under Registration which there is a on-line form to fill out.
You will receive the Applications Serial Number (Which is also a Customer
number), Registration Name and the Registration Code. Note: The fore
mention are all 'Case Sensitive' so you must enter the information as it is
written. NOTE: Because of this issue, the MedALERT PC software
application has been updated from Version 1.0.0 to that of Version 1.0.1.
There is now a 'Send for Registration' form that can be used to obtain a
Registration Code Number. It is located under the File Menu,
and once filled out can be emailed to Onclick.Software
from within the application itself."
-
Question:
"Your program has a "Patient Save" option. Where is the
option to read/restore this data? I couldn't find it." Answer:
"Once again this information is within the Help file. There is a
what looks like a VCR type controls which allows the user to go to the First
Entry, Previous Entry, Next Entry and the Last Entry. MedALERT
PC uses a simple search syntax to location 'Saved' patient files.
Note: If you have a idea to improve the MedALERT PC software
application then please do, Onclick.Software wants to hear any suggestions
that could improve upon its use for you and others. NOTE:
Because of this issue, the MedALERT PC software application has been updated
from Version 1.0.0 to that of Version 1.0.1. There is now a
'Search for Patient' Menu option located in the Main Menu under the Patient
Menu option. There are 4 options to choose from which are First Entry,
Previous Entry, Next Entry and the Last Entry."

Question:
"Your install process, unlike most, does not allow the user the ability
to select the installation directory. In fact, as coded, it will ONLY
run from the directory OFF OF THE ROOT that you devised because it seeks the
graphic file which is hard-coded to that directory name. It is hard
enough to keep any PC clean and organized. I would suggest allowing
the program to run from a USER SELECTED directory." Answer:
"Yes, you are correct in which the Setup.exe file was created. We
have tried to do as you have suggested but as you know, the (MedicalSymbol.bmp)
image could not be found if you are to use the Desktop Shortcut Icon created
by the Setup.exe file. This was found out later to be that the
Desktop Shortcut Icon did NOT include the PATH to the 'MedALERTpc1'
directory where the image is located at. This in turn caused an
'Error' which would not let the application run. We have also found
that if one creates a Desktop Shortcut Icon manually then it will create a
Path to the 'MedALERTpc1' directory. This problem seams to be within
the Setup Application used to create the Setup.exe program. NOTE:
We are looking still into this issue, as like you we feel that the 'end
user' should have the right to choose the directory to which his/her
software applications are placed. Once the issues has been
resolved there will be an 'email' sent out to all Registered
MedALERT PC users of the fix. UPDATE: This issue is now
resolved in the MedALERT PC Version 1.2.0."
-
Question:
"Where do I get the
Plastic Laminate to seal my MedALERT PC Card? Can I get it at K-Mart
or Wal-Mart as it would be cheaper then going to a Office Print Shop?" Answer:
"Yes you can

-
Now, gently
seal the MedALERT PC Card edges together.
Caution:
Once the MedALERT PC Card is laminated, it can not be removed from the
laminating sheets without damaging or destroying the MedALERT PC Card inside.
NOTE: There are enough plastic laminate sheets to do 10 MedALERT PC
Cards within the 3M ID Card Protectors kit."
Question:
"When I print out my MedALERT PC Card, it is too small or that the 'text'
part of it is runs longer then the card, and the 'card' part of it looks
really small. What to do?" Answer:
"This seams to be a main issue that the MedALERT PC card has, as there
are printers that are not printing the card out correctly. So far the
resolution has been slow going and with the passing of time much information
has been gained in resolving this puzzling issue. The release of Version
1.4.0 of the MedALERT PC will be the solution to most printing errors and
issues as this issue has corrected all of the missing links within the
program causing the printing problems for some. The following list of
Printers are known to work without any issues: Hewlett Packard - LaserJet 4L,
Hewlett Packard - Inkjet 500, 500C, Hewlett Packard - Inkjet 550, 550C.
HELP: If you know of any other printers not listed above that do print
out a normal MedALERT PC card then please contact us as we would like to aid
those that have other printers to allow them to print out a normal MedALERT PC
Card. NOTE: The programming language used to create the MedALERT
PC program is now limited to as far as I can go with it anymore. If
there are still issues with the latest version even, then a NEW programming
language will be needed to continue on in developing a revised edition of the
MedALERT PC software application."

file and then compare it with the the one it found. If it is the
same then it will tell you it is current. If not it will tell you
that a new one is available to download.
-
It will
then start to auto-download the file and then install it.
-
Note:
If you get a window that says 'The PharmacyBase.upd

-
Question: "I
have the MedPHARMACY
program and just love it but what if I have a new drug that is not listed in
the PharmacyBase.rbd file,
and I have also downloaded the latest PharmacyBase.rbd
file as
well?" Answer: "All

-
Question:
Answer:
-
Question: "Why
does it say 'ON
HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE' when trying to
download the software?" Answer: "This
is because we are still updating the MedALERT
PC program which will
allow the user to upgrade to the newer MedALERT
PA program without
re-entering all the data. To do this the databases must be in sync,
and to do this both programs must use the same DB Fields to read both
programs."

Question:
"The screen does not allow for my "auto hide" configuration
of the tool bar. It will not allow the tool bar to reappear when I
move the cursor to the bottom of the screen. This caused me a lot of
confusion at first -- it wouldn't let me open another program until I
realized that it was minimized on my desktop. This is very non-standard.
I've never seen it done and I expect it would confuse others also." Answer:
"PreMeds1 (Prescription Medication Log) application will run on
Windows95 or 98 operating systems. The following ERROR came from a
system using Windows 2000 Professional as the operating system.
Unfortunately the PreMeds1 (Prescription Medication Log) application will
not on a NT based system. Besides Windows 2000 Professional the
following are also NT based operating systems; Windows NT, NT Server,
Windows XP Professional and Windows2000 Server. NOTE:
Unfortunately for now this NT issue will continue to be a issue with
PreMeds1 and any NT based operating system. When the issue has been
resolved all Onclick.Software
registered users will be notified of
the fix. UPDATE [03-09-2003]: With the release of PreMeds
(Prescription Medication Log) Version 1.1.0, the NT issues has been
resolved. Steve Green has passed the BETA test version of the
PreMeds (Prescription Medication Log) software application as it worked
perfectly on his Windows 2000 computer making it NT compatible."

"This has been addressed and the Minimized issue has been resolved
within PreMeds Version 1.1.0 and is now uploaded to the Onclick.Software
website."
-
Question:
"When
I click on Update, I can see the entry in the Comments & General
Notes Entry window but after exiting and then reopening the PreMeds1
application my new comment is not there, why?" Answer:
"When you enter any information into a New or just
Updating an existing log you MUST! then Save the log entry.
This can be done by clicking on the Medications Menu option then
clicking on the Save Entry option. This will save the entire
log entry to the PreMeds1 database."
